Serene creates beauty on her hypnotizing new track, "Run the Night"
Review by Austin Sher
Released officially on Halloween, Serene has dropped her fantastically hypnotizing new single, “Run the Night”. We absolutely loved what we heard! Do yourselves a favor and please read along for our review, in addition a background on the artist herself.
Born and raised in the ever expanding suburb of Dallas, named Frisco, TX, Serene is a first generation Ghanaian-American who's always been fascinated with music and the way that it brings people together, no matter their differences. She finds it to not only be a unifying source, a style of expression, and an outlet for emotion, but also something that challenges her and pushes her to learn about other forms of artistry. That being said, she’s not only a singer, but in fact a songwriter and producer as well.
What you’re going to hear on “Run the Night” is a lovely mix of Pop and R&B that similarly emulates the sounds of SZA and Victoria Monet. Serene’s hope is that when people hear her songs, they’re not just listening, but feeling something too. Listening and connecting is what makes music so special, so take a closer look and feel it flow through you.
On our first listen through “Run the Night”, especially being big fans of SZA, we could immediately hear the influence. Although Serene has taken musical liberties within her sound, the overall vibe is super relaxing and emphatic. The first thing that truly jumped out to us was the high quality production value featured. As mentioned, the artist isn’t just the fantastic voice behind the music, but also the overall creator of the effects you’ll hear. The production was top notch and she should be extremely proud of her skills.
While this was our first introduction to the music of Serene, it’s absolutely not going to be our last. Seeing as her career is just jumping off, we’ll be keeping a close eye on all new releases coming soon. If the talent flowing through her so young in her music journey is happening now, we can only assume the sky’s the limit for this artist. So once you’re finished on your first listen, make sure to click those Follow buttons to keep up with her every musical move.
With this all being said, now’s about the time we’ll let our readers know to stop reading and start listening! For everything Serene, to listen, and to keep up with her, please check out the following links below.
