Seer Music debuts his powerful new EP, Canyon Country

Released on July 10th, Seer Music, also known as Matthew DeRubertis released his powerful new EP, Canyon Country. Join us as we dig into what we thought of the record, as well as get a bit of insight on the backgrounds of Seer Music.
The story goes that back in late April, Matthew took an exploratory solo journey into remote lands in southeastern Utah. This land called to him like no other he’d been to before. There are powerful qualities of mystery, clarity, peace, ruggedness, danger, vastness, purity, and so much more there. He could explore for a lifetime! Listening to the four songs featured on the EP, there are so many qualities that resemble the description of this remote land.
Matthew let us know, “In my wanderings, the songs that made the Canyon Country EP came to me. I underwent an amazing creative journey, following the twists and turns of this music as it unveiled itself. I also finally put my voice into my music for the first time on record!” One thing you’ll notice immediately that threw us for a bit of a loop is we were under the impression this would be an all instrumental album. Once the vocals eventually chimed in on “San Juan River”, that’s when we were sold, this was already a fantastic introduction into the world of Seer Music.
The music aims to capture some of his experience in those lands and he hopes it brings some peace and feelings of expansiveness to you. Speaking from personal experience, I wanted nothing more than to be in the place that this music was written. Being in Los Angeles in my apartment just did not do these songs justice in the least bit. Everything is so pure and honestly, magical sounding. The next hike you take, the next solo drive you go on, Canyon Country needs to be the record you put on. I’m astounded at the quality overall, not that I had any doubts going in anyway.
While I hope we’ve made ourselves clear that this is music you need to listen to, we’ll let you be the judges yourself. The one downside on the EP is the runtime, at only 11 minutes, I wish it were an hour of this. I guess that means another trip to another remote land is in store!
