SABRINA excels on new atmospheric single, "Sugar Rush"
Leading with her silky smooth vocals on top of a vibrant production, SABRINA has just given the world her latest, “Sugar Rush”. Read on for an in-depth look into the track, as well as an update on this immensely talented artist.
We’re closing in on nearly a year since we last reviewed the work of SABRINA on “5AM”, but since then she’s very clearly upped her game in all aspects. Just released on August 12th, 2022, her newest musical endeavor is an atmospheric single called “Sugar Rush” that simply emphasizes her expressive vocals to get the point across. If for some reason this is your introduction to her work, you’ve discovered her at the perfect time.
Inspired by artists like Billie Eilish, James Blake, and so many more, SABRINA has still managed to impart a genuine sense of originality and freshness into her work. Through our now multiple listens of “Sugar Rush”, it’s slowly unraveled itself as a dense and hypnotic track with a ton to offer. What we mean by that is while her vocals are clearly the star of the show and take precedence, there’s still so many elements of emerging sound and style underneath in the mix. She shapeshifts and immerses the listener into this bass-heavy and borderline electronic experience, all the while controlling their energy while you hang on to her every word.
A sincere recommendation here prior to listening would be to grab your nicest pair of headphones or a sound system and listen that way. There’s so many subtleties happening in the background that it literally requires multiple listens just to be able to process it all. In our opinion though, it’s the type of music we enjoy on a personal level and also a specific niche that challenges the listener. Mainstream music delivers you these outright catchy hooks and simple melodies, of which this still has elements of on the catchy side, but it’s much more of an artistic achievement than something super basic.
For now though, SABRINA is rumored to have a ton more on the way in 2022, so make sure to check out those important links below to listen and follow along.
