(((S))) blends multiple genres on outstanding album, "Maverick"

Delivering up another completely memorable new record titled Maverick, the artist known as (((S))) has surpassed all our wildest expectations. Please read on for an in-depth look into the album, as well as a background on this artist.

Keeping things totally anonymous as to who this actually is, (((S))) has followed up his critically acclaimed album The world of (((S))) with something new and riveting from beginning to end. It’s a record titled Maverick, and for this Copenhagen-based artist, it’s an inspired mix of power pop, post punk, and a signature essence that keeps on popping up through the entirety of his discography. Without a doubt, it’s both a piece of art and a musician that we’re recommending everyone out there check out as soon as possible.

Consisting of “10 soul-searching songs that try to put meaning into a world without meaning”, Maverick certainly leans heavily into lyricism that challenges the listener to attempt to put the pieces together. Thematically speaking, we got the oversight that tries give meaning to the absurdity that today’s world is, but also helps and gives the perspective from an anonymous source. While it’s still incredibly difficult for us to come to conclusions for someone else’s work, thankfully Maverick has nearly infinite instrumental passages that shift your attention away too. Start to finish, you’re hit left and right with so many different stylistic choices and influences that come in. This record feels like it could have been released in the early 80’s and no one would have known the difference, yet it’s 2022 and it works just as well.

We never thought to mix together power pop and post punk as we’ve always experienced them separately, but what (((S))) has done here in his journey of thinking outside the box is something special. Undoubtedly the entire album is worthy of your time and focus, however our specific favorites and standouts were “Nighttrain to nowhere”, “Ballet of the wolves”, and “Time is a thief”. All came off and felt like the soul of the listen yet also would serve nicely as an introduction for everything else to expect on the album. With that being said, we cannot wait for everyone to hit the play button, this is seriously special.
