Ross Hollow shares instrumentally impressive LP, "Not Fine"
On their third full length LP titled Not Fine, Ross Hollow have absolutely blown us away in all regards to this record. You’re going to love it! Please read on for our full featured review of the album, as well as a background on the evolution of the band.
As the years have gone on, the members of Ross Hollow have continued to grow as well. Now made up of Stuart Ross, Annalee Kwochka, Dhruv Kulkarni, Jared Horvath, Jason Kahl, and Vernon Marsh, these six individuals have come together to create something truly extraordinary in sound and style. On Not Fine, there’s a seemingly endless array of music genres being played around with, but the final package is really something to behold.
Originally started by Stuart Ross back in 2017, he’s slowly added members to this musical ensemble. Over the years it’s flourished to what it is today and that full grand sound of Not Fine can directly be attributed to the immensely talented multiinstrumentalists you’re just about to hear. Coming in at 10 total tracks, spanning right around 39 minutes in total run time, this record is one that took us by surprise, but left us with collective smiles on our faces and in an optimistic mood at the end.
So much of what we loved about Not Fine was the consistent playfulness in tone. We’re not trying to not take this seriously, but due to the upbeat sounds in instrumentation, it allowed for us to pay special attention to the lyricism which delivered big. Songs like “Old Creaky House” and “Circle City Blues” were standouts for us that provided imagery-filled lyrics that clearly painted a picture. Filled with dynamic horns, ripping guitar riffs, and of course the switching vocals, we couldn’t help but fall in love quickly.
Honestly, we could go on and on about every single facet of everything we loved, but then we’d be spoiling way too much. Plain and simple, if you enjoy really great compelling music that features a wide range of sound, this is 100% the record for you. Do yourselves a big favor and stop what you’re doing, click that play button, and get ready for an enjoyable musical ride.
