Rick Christian creates suspenseful dark dance track, "Pathways"
Staying incredibly consistent throughout 2022, Rick Christian has made a quick return with an explosive and suspenseful new track titled “Pathways”. Please do yourselves a favor and read on for our glowing review of the single, as well as a background on this artist.
For those somehow out of the loop, Rick Christian is effortlessly blending together a variety of alternative, electronic, and dark dance music while based out of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Focusing intently on a hypnotic production and the aim to immediately immerse the listener, he’s simply blown us away with the release of “Pathways” and it has been on non stop repeat since initially sent our way. We’re urging everyone out there to give it a spin as soon as possible.
On the background of the single, Rick has claimed that “the song exists in a reality between now and the apocalypse, a world unfamiliar where everything is collapsing”. Now while that might not make 100% sense by reading it, we can assure you that once you hit the play button it all starts to come together like pieces of a puzzle. Rick Christian wastes zero time getting to the point as “Pathways” starts out on a high note of dramatic tones with no build up or filler. Through nearly three minutes of runtime, listeners will experience complex and layered production, lyrical themes that fit the origins of the story, and an unexpected slick and retro ride through inventive instrumentation.
While it feels like there’s 100 things we could compliment about it all, one of the main takeaways is how the song never feels like it’s infusing too much into the mix, rather just enough for you to focus on and ride the journey from beginning to end. The pulsating synthesizers are what attract you, but it’s all the other elements that pop in to keep you hooked. We took the opportunity to listen to his previous single “Emotionless” which was also stellar, but there’s some underlying magic emanating through this that will keep us coming back for more and more.
