Rick Christian shifts his sound on introspective single, "In Dreams"
A little over two months since Rick Christian’s last single “Pathways” which we adored and the artist has made a major return with the release of “In Dreams”. Keep reading for a closer look into the track, as well as an update on this talented artist.
Capturing a different energy and pivoting his sound slightly more towards the dark dance side of things, we’re loving this sound from Rick Christian. On his newest single titled “In Dreams”, we instantly felt as though the hard hitting lyrics mirrored the energy and themes being presented, all the while holding the signature essence of what ultimately makes his music so special as a whole. If this is your introduction to the artist, we’ve found this to be an ideal entry point to explore some more.
Created as a statement to “capture our loved ones in eternity”, everything about “In Dreams” has this aura of feeling honest, vulnerable, and even giving the listener the opportunity to learn a bit more about Rick. We wouldn’t necessarily call this one stripped back, but it certainly shows a different side and more capabilities that Rick can create from. At its base it’s rooted in electropop, but at times we felt ourselves drifting off into a trance, bordering on some glimmers of dream pop as well. You get lost in his expressive vocals that act like another instrument in the mix, meanwhile there’s so much happening deep within the production that you’re actively trying to absorb it all. We say that in the highest regard, mainly because it gives the chance to come back for repeated listens in order to potentially miss what slipped by the first time.
Sonically though, Rick has definitely managed to reach new highs and avenues in his style. Don’t get us wrong, we’re major fans of his more danceable tracks, but this one begs the listener to drop it down a notch and immerse themselves into this unique world and atmosphere that he’s carved out. You’ll find sincere relatability in watching your children grow older as you attempt to freeze the present, but he crafts his words in such a way that things could hold multiple meanings. Plain and simple, we have thoroughly enjoyed our multiple listens!
