PROSE reemerge on laidback acoustic single, "9 Million Volts"
Making us feel great with their laidback and signature sound, PROSE have reemerged in 2022 with a stellar new single titled “9 Million Volts”. Keep reading for an in-depth review of the track, in addition to a background on the band.
Blending together a little bit of Hip Hop, Alternative, and Indie acoustics, PROSE are back in the new year with a feel good song called “9 Million Volts”. With gigs lined up next month in both Manchester and London, we’re hoping everyone who attends gets to hear this beauty in a live setting. With its context surrounding an individual who is “unlucky in love but still trying again and again but eventually finds that one person who changes everything”, it’s an all too relatable sentiment to those in the dating pool. They’ve taken a sticky situation and surrounded it with a lovely instrumentation that we’re highly recommending everyone give a listen to.
While you might be familiar with the band’s 2016 breakthrough Home of the Brave, it feels as though this song is a positive turning point in the trajectory of the band. Leaning more to the acoustic and softer side of things, there’s certainly a minimalistic approach that takes hold here in terms of sound and style. Don’t get us wrong, there’s plenty happening instrumentally to keep a listener’s attention, but the heart and soul of “9 Million Volts” is truly held within the vocals. The artist is so convincing in his message and you can’t help but relate even if you’ve never experienced what he has.
Now considering that this is the band’s first formal release of the year, we’re sincerely hoping that it’s not the last. With so much planned in terms of festival appearances and headlining shows, it would be an absolute treat to all who adore them to get some more. As the summer months come lurking around the corner, it’s chill and relaxing songs like these that we’ll have on at our BBQ’s and beach days. All that being said though, now’s about the time to give this a proper listen!
