Plasma Chasms serve up a musical odyssey on debut album, "Chrysalis"

Plasma Chasms has emerged from the cosmic ether with their debut album Chrysalis, a record that doesn’t just invite you to listen—it dares you to transcend. This album is an otherworldly elevator ride, transporting listeners through an ever-shifting kaleidoscope of sound that blends vintage psychedelia with modern pop sensibilities.

From the moment you step into the Chrysalis, the journey begins. Each track is a gateway to a different world, yet the album flows seamlessly as one cohesive adventure. The band’s commitment to crafting something extraordinary is evident in every note, with lush, expansive vocals guiding you through a series of sonic dimensions.

“Enter The Chrysalis” opens the record, yet "Coolangatta" lets it fully take off with a wave of nostalgia, its melodies washing over you like a sun-soaked daydream. This track sets the tone, blending rock and pop elements that feel both familiar and fresh. "Hourglass" is where things start to warp and bend—time becomes fluid as the band layers vintage psych influences with a modern twist, creating a sound that’s both timeless and immediate.

For us though, it’s "Interstellar Beauty" that truly captures the essence of Chrysalis. This track is a journey within a journey, a cosmic exploration that feels like drifting through a galaxy of sound. The lush vocals here are particularly striking, expanding and contracting like the breath of the universe itself. It’s groovy, classically psychedelic, and the vocals reverberate as it wonderfully stands out as a highlight of the listen.

Recently we reviewed the band’s lead up single “Already Waiting” which of course gave us a small taste of what was to come, but the entirety of the album simply took our ears by storm. As lovers of all the subgenres presented here, they’ve truly put something together that expertly borders the line between vintage and progressive into the future. A tough thing to nail, no doubt, yet it’s really the production that brings decades of sound into the mix.

Ultimately, Plasma Chasms has gone out of their way to create an album that’s more than just a collection of songs. Chrysalis is a full-bodied experience, a sonic metamorphosis that invites you to pick your favorite flavor of psychedelia and ride the cosmic elevator on repeat. It’s a debut that promises not just music, but a transformative journey through sound.
