PJ LaMariana crafts a well balanced debut album, "For You"

Ending the year with a bang, PJ LaMariana has just debuted his first ever full length record, For You. Do yourselves a big favor and please read on for our in-depth look at the album, as well as a background on this emerging artist.

Based out of New York City, PJ LaMariana has crafted together an eclectically diverse debut titled For You. Just released on December 22nd, it’s chalk filled with soul, personal experiences within the stories, and an instrumentation that’ll get you hooked right from the opener. If this is your introduction to PJ’s music, strap in for a memorable ride.

At 11 total tracks, PJ sets the tone of For You immediately on the title track of the same name where he takes the listener on a journey through his range of feelings. Covering themes surrounding longing, despair, and hopefulness of the future, you really end up leaving the album with a sense of positivity and optimism. Even putting the messages of it all aside, what PJ has accomplished sonically is nothing short of amazing too. Every song features its own groove infusion that we can only imagine is going to translate flawlessly into a live performance.

Of course we can’t leave out what ties it all together, and that has to be PJ’s silky smooth vocals that provided a constant throughout the listen. The entirety of it all is a masterclass in keeping composure, however songs like “Fool Again”, “Not Enough”, and “Peace” stood out to us in an extra special way. He’s got range and a certain dynamic nature to his delivery, but also knows the point to tone things down in order to let the always brilliant instrumentation take hold as well. So much of what we enjoyed about For You was the balance of jams and the times to focus in and listen to the stories.

It truly can’t be overstated how much we’ve enjoyed this one, especially because new music at the end of the year isn’t too common with release schedules. With that being said though, we'll undoubtedly be coming back to this one as the weather stays cold and we take a breather from 2021. We suggest you do the same!
