People On TV explode with sound on 2nd single, "Stand"
Grooving bass lines throughout and a completely atmospheric sound, People On TV have blown us away with their second ever single, “Stand”. Read on for our full review of the track, as well as a background on this emerging band.
Based in Brisbane, Australia, People On TV are already packing a massive punch with their two first singles. While this review is based around their latest “Stand”, we’re going to overwhelmingly recommend you check out their debut “Rewind” as well. As for the band, they’re made up of Dave Gilbert (vocals, guitar), Steve Swart (bass) and Oliver Fawcett (drums). With just three members, it was honestly shocking in the best way to hear the amount of sound and intricacies they’ve presented. Regardless, this song is an instant rock classic and we’ve had it on repeat since it was sent our way.
Recorded at The Scarlett Owl by Shaun Richardson and mixed by ARIA award-winning producer Magoo, the entire team involved should give themselves a pat on the back. Right at the forefront, People On TV immediately suck you in with the aforementioned grooves and immerse the listener into a hypnosis with screaming guitars and a lo-fi vocal presence that effortlessly sets the tone for something special. Honestly, it seems like the best music in the world is creeping out of Australia, so here’s just another band that’s doing things right in the music scene.
While their debut came out in 2021 and they’ve delivered this in 2022, here’s to hoping this isn’t the last we see of them this year. We would never want to rush art, but we already know we’re going to be playing these songs into the ground. With that being said though, they really have left an ultimately positive impression on us. We tend to “judge” songs a little tougher when it’s genres we listen to in our everyday lives, but this one surpassed expectations and has the replayability factor to come back each time and experience something new and exotic.
For now, we encourage everyone out there to check out the important links below so that you can not only listen, but follow along with the band on social media to keep up with their every move. We can’t wait to see what’s on the way either. Enjoy!
