Paul Moody shares a lyrically-inspired new single, "Time Bomb"

Putting out his second single of the year titled “Time Bomb”, Paul Moody has done it once again on this silky smooth song. Please do yourselves a favor and keep reading for a closer look into the track, as well as a much needed background on the artist.

Serving up another piece of inspired indie folk slightly reminiscent of Tallest Man on Earth and the Felice Brothers, Paul Moody has gone above and beyond with the creation of “Time Bomb”. Immediately immersing the listener into his relaxed world of song and style, he leads first with his signature vocals but is delicately backed up by an inspired instrumentation with help from some incredibly talented artists. Needless to say, we’ve sincerely loved our multiple listens and are highly recommending everyone out there give it a spin.

On the background of it all, “Time Bomb” is “an unflinchingly honest song about trying to give love when there is pain and baggage that comes with love and intimacy”. Of course Paul has painted an elegant picture through his descriptive lyricism, but in a sort of simplistic beautiful way that makes it easy to connect the dots. Keith Goodwin (Good Old War) is there to harmonize and truly bring it all to another level, but this song also deserves a necessary shout out to the producer who emphasizes all the subtle moments. A recommendation that we’d urge everyone to give is to give this a listen with a nice pair of headphones or a sound system because it all really pops and feels even more grand with that addition.

When it comes to indie folk-inspired songs that are in this same vein, we always run into the problem of everything sounding similar to one another. Honestly though, in this case, Paul really has taken strides to differentiate himself in a crowded genre using the uniqueness of his vocals and paying even closer attention to the detail between the notes. He had us hooked from the opening moments and we really didn’t want it to end. If anything, it inspired us to do an even deeper dive on his existing discography in which there’s a ton more to explore. As this is just his third single released this year, we’re hoping that more is on the way in terms of an EP or a full length album, but we’ll be thrilled with anything!
