Opium Ink share a show stopping new track, "Run Away"
Review by Austin Sher
Seeing its official debut today on December 8th, 2020, Opium Ink are back with yet another show stopping single, titled “Run Away”. Do yourselves a favor and read our detailed review of the song, in addition to a refresher on this electro pop duo.
You may remember not too long ago when we covered Opium Ink’s previous release, “Can’t Breathe”, well now the girls are back with another track that is sure to get you up and dancing. Before we fully get into it though, we’d love to give you a quick refresher on the artists. Opium Ink are an alternative rock band from New York City consisting of lead vocalist and bassist Sarah Orloff & drummer Wilma Kaddissi, along with guest guitarists. Mixing elements of both rock and electronic music, they’re creating their own sound that impresses on the spectrum of both genres.
On “Run Away” specifically, it’s another prime example of the girl’s creating absolute gold on a track that is uplifting, and even a tad bit funky at times. Giving off 90’s club vibes, the two have collaborated along with guests to bring us another extremely well crafted track in their ever expanding discography. With so many singles under their belt in the year 2020, we’re crossing our fingers that it’s leading up to another EP, or potentially a full length album.
We’re going to give it to you straight, if you enjoyed “Can’t Breathe”, you’re going to absolutely adore “Run Away”. All in all they possess a similar feel and that signature Opium Ink sound, yet Sarah and WIlma continue to innovate and explore the project’s overall sound. By refining, trying new things, and through constant experimentation, we’re confident that the two have found their stride within the creation.
So what else do we need to say to convince you to listen? At this point, we’re going to highly encourage and recommend for you to stop reading the article, and get listening! It will be well worth your time and you might even discover your next favorite group.
