Obsidian Cane & Ferraz collaborate on high energy single, "Shine"

With an all new EP out titled RESET II, we’re focusing in on one of our favorite singles off Obsidian Cane’s record, “Shine”. Please read on for our full review of the track, as well as a background on the artist.

Currently representing the London music scene, Obsidian Cane continues to reinvent himself and his music through these always perplexing record releases. We’ll kick things off by letting you know the entirety of RESET II is wonderful, however “Shine” featuring East London’s Ferraz was undoubtedly our standout track. Needless to say, we sincerely can’t wait for everyone out there to give this collaboration a well deserved listen.

With Obsidian Cane lending his always expert production skills to the mix, the vocal feature from Ferraz was a match made in heaven on so many different levels. Featuring her sweet and serene vocals that added such a nice layer of complexity, ultimately it’s a smooth and funky single that will have you coming back for more. It’s dripping with soul, yet contextually the lyricism provides quite a nice story as well. Based off just this one track, we’re now hoping for a series of collabs between these two sometime hopefully in the near future.

So much of what we enjoyed about this song is that it didn’t stick to one single formula. Through the production and multiple stylistic takes on everything, you’re going to experience a true melting pot of sound. While of course Ferraz’s vocals feel like the standout, we wouldn’t mind a pure instrumental to really highlight Obsidian Cane’s expertise too. Together though, and throughout the rest of the EP, it’s high energy collaborations like these that continue to transcend music and take us to different horizons on what’s actually possible within the scene. Filled with funk, soul, and endless grooves, “Shine” is 100% one of the more fun songs we’ve experienced throughout 2021.

If anything, it’s got us seriously interested in doing a deep dive on the rest of their respective discographies, mainly to compare and contrast what each can bring to the table. In the meantime though, it would be in your best interests to check out those links below in order to listen and follow along for everything else that’s on the way in the New Year. We hope you love it!
