Neekull surpasses expectations on dreamy single, "Let Go"

Making major waves within the R&B sector of the music industry, Neekull is using her lush vocals and inventive songwriting to create unique and moving music. On her latest output titled “Let Go”, the artist has stripped things back in a sense, but not lost any bit of ingenuity or originality. In our eyes, this Los Angeles-based artist has yet to hit her peak, which is why we’ll be keeping a close eye on her future tracks, as well as recommending multiple listens of her newest.
While Neekull is no stranger to music in the slightest, she’s been hard at it since 15 when she began to showcase her talent all around the LA area. Since then, she’s been networking and collaborating with some of LA’s finest. Specifically on “Let Go” though, she’s brought on Noeha Rose in which the two have created a sheer amount of beauty on a relatively short track. Honestly, who knew so much greatness could be jam packed in such a small time frame.
On the background of the song, “Let Go” is about “realizing that you’re in a relationship with somebody who is only staying around because it’s convenient...the chorus really embodies that moment when you realize it doesn’t really matter if you stay or not.” For so many who have been in that exact same position, these lyrics aren’t overly difficult to relate to, however the passion and conviction in their delivery by the artist makes it hit that much harder.
For an R&B single like this, there were also a ton of additional production elements that took us by surprise. As an example, it felt like a fair bit of dream pop had entered the mix due to us feeling like we were listening on a cloud. Whether that could be attributed to Neekull’s delicate vocals or not, who knows, rather we’re glad it made us feel like that. Resonating with an artist in their personal experiences is always a vulnerable place for a listener to be, but we’re happy to join the ride and see what’s next.
