Mountain Mansion relives an adventure on "Fog Walker of Copton Ridge"
Keeping on his streak of successful singles in 2021, Mountain Mansion has another wonderful track just out titled “Fog Walker of Copton Ridge”. Read on for our full featured review of the song, as well as a background on the artist.
Inspired by being trapped in a 14 by 14 foot Alpine Lookout during a week long storm, “Fog Walker of Copton Ridge” is a rich storytelling experience of a song by Mountain Mansion. Slightly haunting yet tonally vibrant in all aspects, we’ve quickly come to love this song and everything it’s about. If this is your introduction to this artist’s music, you’re surely in for a treat, among the other gems in his discography.
Multi-instrumentalist Shane Turner is the genius behind Mountain Mansion and has been a staple in the Vancouver indie rock scene for about 7 years now. Release after release he’s shown the world exactly what he’s capable of and it seems as though there’s no end in sight, thankfully. Truly, our only real “complaint” about this newest song is how short it was. After becoming entranced with the feel and atmosphere it evoked, before we knew it, it was sadly over. Obviously we had to go back in and listen multiple more times to get that initial feeling and that solved all of our problems.
It’s honestly a little bit difficult to pick out exactly what we enjoyed the most about it, mainly because there was so much to love. With vocals slightly reminiscent of Sufjan Stevens in their own signature style, Mountain Mansion’s take on modern folk-inspired rock is one we’ll choose to follow for years to come. Even though the song itself centered around the thrilling story being told, the vibe that it gave off through the instrumentation is something not to be missed or forgotten.
As there were no critiques to give and only positives to point out, our sincere recommendation is that you check out not only “Fog Walker of Copton Ridge”, but the rest of this artist’s music as well.
