Based out of San Antonio, Texas, Monti Korbelle has been on an absolute tear over the years, shapeshifting and infusing seemingly infinite styles and genres into his growing discography. With two albums under his belt already, the artist has outdone himself once again on Our Conclusion Is In Arizona. For us, it legitimately felt like a sonic adventure through imagery-filled lyricism, an outrageous production, and impassioned vocals. As a writer and producer of his own music, it’s honestly the cherry on top to Monti’s many capabilities as a well rounded artist. Through our initial listen of the album, we truly didn’t quite know what to expect, mainly because his music is always an amalgamation of past works. However, as soon as we immersed ourselves through “Left Our Love In Arizona”, there was no turning back. Listeners are immediately hit left and right with a wide array of musical ideas, motifs, and future glimmers of what’s going to happen on subsequent songs. Attempting to even put this in a genre is a difficult task as there’s elements of Hip Hop, Pop, and some Rock, but all confounded by an electronic production that’s atmospheric and daring. Regardless if you’re a veteran in the music game or just starting out, there’s a baseline level of respect that this brand of music holds. The experimentation alone is worth exploring a chunk of these wonderful songs.
Now while we definitely would consider this to be cohesive, flowing nicely as one full album experience, we did have specific favorites. The opener was key to enjoying everything else, but others like “Moth Tattoo” and “Bye, My Love” were incredible in terms of harnessing emotion within the realm of the album.
