Mighloe mesmerizes on 3rd EP release, "Desperate Times"
After a string of successful single releases in 2021, Mighloe is finally back with a complete and cohesive EP titled Desperate Times. Open your minds and read along for our full review of the record, as well as a background on the artist as well.
Based out of Toronto, Canada, Mighloe is a singer and songwriter who’s just put forward a perplexing yet thought provoking EP titled Desperate Times. Despite being locked down like the rest of us last year, she pushed on through with a handful of live streamed shows for multiple online magazines. Dreamy and soulful to quickly describe it, we’ve fallen in love with the album on our first listen.
At 7 complete songs, spanning just over 22 minutes in length, Mighloe has captured a moment in time where everything feels like it has slowed down and the focus is solely on her, the music, and its message. A standout for us was the second track “Cruel”, in which the artist provided a bit of much needed background as well. She says, “Cruel is my empowerment. It is a reminder of who I once was; Broken. And of the strength it took to put myself back together. The resilience. I am better now. I am free. I am powerful. Your cruelness will never again take a toll on me.”
Produced by Dean Vision and LateNightDrive, these three unbelievably talented musicians have put something out that instantly feels about as special as can be, we seriously mean that. As much as we may have had our standouts and high points across Desperate Times, without a doubt the EP is begging for a cohesive start to finish listening. Sure, you could hop around, but you’d really be missing out on so much of the flow and uniqueness that makes it so complete. Don’t short change yourself is the real message here.
Now while this is the 3rd EP release from Mighloe so far, we’re already itching for its follow up. It’s not often that something can wash over you with such power so fast, but this artist has come out of thin air for us and managed to create lifelong fans across a 22 minute listen. If that isn’t enough reason to scroll down instantly and click play, then ultimately you’re missing out on one of our favorite EP’s we’ve heard in a while!
Without giving too much else away, we’ve made it easy and provided the links below where you can listen and follow along for everything Mighloe. Again, don’t miss out, you’re going to love it!
