Currently representing the Portland, Oregon music scene, Micki XO is a pop vocalist who’s completely wowed us with her atmospheric single, “Moonlight”. With goals to travel the world and connect everyone with her meaningful lyrics, she’s a relatively new artist, although she’s always had a real love for the craft. Everything she’s put out so far has been stunning, so we’re obviously not surprised that this one came out as great as it did.

Seeing as though “Moonlight” is Micki XO’s 4th overall single, it’s honestly mindblowing the massive strides she’s made compared to her first song, “Why Did I Say?”. Not to discount her debut in the slightest, but you can audibly hear huge improvements in nearly every facet of the song. Her vocal output continues to get stronger, the production has taken a big step up, and it’s legitimately got us excited to see what else she’s got up her sleeve in the coming months and years.

On the background of “Moonlight”, the title really stems from the feeling of her being most alive and confident during those nighttime hours. All of her music centers around self-love and self-care, and even as a society with all the attention these topics are getting, it’s still the best feeling when we see artists that we love advocating for these important causes. Truly, there can never be enough focus on hard hitting topics just like these.

From start to finish, “Moonlight” has turned into a perfectly executed song from an emerging artist. Seriously, the only negative we’d possibly be able to say is that it’s slightly on the short side at just a little over two minutes. It could be us feeling selfish, but as soon as it finished, we instantly wished that there was more to come. You’ll see for yourself!
