Having immense experiences consisting of 25 years of songwriting, 8 albums, and 500 shows played with different bands and instruments, Mauri Dark is set to release more unique work of his own in the form of a new album. What you’ll be getting on his latest work is an amalgamation of “strong compositions and lyrics led by Mauri’s deep bass voice and accompanied by fingerpicked acoustic baritone guitar, and their moods of soundscapes”

“Dreams Of A Middle-Aged Man is a dream come true record,” Mauri Dark says. “It combines everything I have learned about music and life in the past 25 years. It is an emotional, honest, sincere and timeless acoustic album full of moods and stories in the spirit of Johnny Cash, Leonard Cohen and Nick Drake. Set to be released on December 18th, 2020 via EluccaArts in digital, CD, and vinyl formats, this is a truly a unique record and single that you should be keeping an eye out for. Specifically on the title track, “Dreams Of A Middle-Aged Man”, it is a near 8 minute hybrid of a spoken word and acoustic track fully led by Mauri himself. Combining dark themes within the lyricism, his ultimate conveyance is in the form of opening himself up and telling those personal stories that any listener is willing to listen to.

We know that an 8 minute track can be a bit intimidating on the surface, but once you’ve pressed play and dug in, you’re truly in for a ride that is near impossible to get off of. Immediately Mauri takes you down the rabbit hole, initially piquing interests with him and his acoustic guitar. As much as it is a song on the surface, it’s a little storytelling adventure that any fan of the aforementioned artists can appreciate.

To really sum it up though, it’s chalk filled with experience. As someone who’s been playing as long as him and gathered years worth of emotion and strife, the only way for an artist to really convey their emotions is through song, and we fully commend Mauri on doing so. Honestly listening to this in a quiet room has us extremely excited for what the full album is going to sound like.
