Matt Kiano succeeds on his pop punk debut, "Life Is Fair"
Branching out on his own for a hopefully prosperous solo career, Matt Kiano is off to a hot start with the release of his debut, “Life Is Fair”. We’re loving it! Read on for our full review of the track, as well as a background on this emerging artist.
Having been part of multiple punk rock bands since the age of 16, Matt Kiano made the smart decision to carve out a solo career for himself. For this South Wales-based artist, his debut single “Life Is Fair” was nothing but a fantastic introduction to the artist and we confidently feel that bigger and better things are on the way in the near future. Do yourselves a huge favor and check out this single as soon as you can.
While Matt took care of the guitar, bass, and vocals, he enlisted fellow musician Ty Walker to provide the drums. The first thing you’ll notice on this track is the clear Green Day and blink-182 influences, which are by no means a bad thing, rather Matt has taken those signature sounds and blended up something even more unique for himself. Kicking it all off with a memorable bass line, the song immediately dives into pop punk glory as things begin to pick up steam.
To be completely honest, Billie Joe Armstrong would be quite proud of this song as the vocal delivery and output are strikingly similar. Matt certainly adds his own vibrato to the entirety of the mix here, yet the song still feels fresh and innovative from a genre-specific perspective. In terms of this being a debut single from a musician who’s racked up plenty of experience playing with others, we can say for the absolute fact that it’s a winner. Without a doubt, it’s got us incredibly excited to see what else he can put out in the coming months and years, don’t let that dream die out.
It should probably go without saying, but we highly recommend all reading this to give it a listen right now. Even if pop punk isn’t your “thing”, there’s so much to unpack and love here from an instrumentation and production perspective. You’re receiving so much passion and love from the artist and that comes through without question. In our eyes, Matt Kiano has done an impeccable job on “Life Is Fair”.
