Martin Yates shares his stunning new single, "Yesterday"
Officially shared with the world on February 26th, 2021, Martin Yates has released his beautiful new single, “Yesterday”. Read along with us for our in-depth analysis into the track, in addition to a background on the artist.
For those unaware, Martin Yates is a singer and songwriter hailing from the United Kingdom. Bringing a truly fresh and honest approach to his music is what differentiates him from the rest of the crowd. To put it frankly, we’re in love with his latest output. Filled with cunning lyricism, a soulful set of vocals, and a somber instrumentation, this is a track that everyone out there needs to listen to.
While he’s only been at it for about 3 years, he’s sold out multiple shows already at venues such as Birmingham’s ‘The Sunflower Lounge’ in February 2019 and a show at prestigious venue ‘O2 Academy 3 Birmingham’. While the time is hopefully approaching soon for all to attend live shows again, we can say confidently that we would love to witness this artist in action. To see and hear Martin tell his stories and command the room with his vocals would be an absolute honor.
At a little over four minutes in runtime, Martin Yates has managed to blow us away with the suspensefulness and drama that he’s created around “Yesterday”. What could be described as a straightforward piano ballad, turned out to be so much more. While the focus of the track should definitely be considered his out of this world vocals, the message he’s projecting rings true as well. There’s so much beauty surrounding the track that we have to highly recommend a close and focused listen.
Considering that this is just his first single release of the year, our hope is that there’s more music to be released on the way. While we’d never want to rush an artist into putting more and more out, we’re sort of begging for it. It should go without saying at this point that we’ve loved “Yesterday”, but at the same time we want to dig deeper into Martin as an artist and hear more about his life and struggles. Something in the form of an EP or full length album would be appreciated more than he’ll know.
There really isn’t much more to say here, other than we are highly recommending all the readers out there give this track a listen. Go ahead and dig into the rest of his discography as well, but mainly, show this song some love and reach out to the artist if it inspired you or touched you in the way it did for us. With that being said, we hope you enjoy!
