Maria Deirisarri shares a lyrically clever breakup anthem, "if the moon was a person"

Switching up her sound but keeping that signature feel overall, Maria Deirisarri has just released her latest work, “if the moon was a person”. Please read on for a closer look at the track, in addition to a refresher on the artist.

Experiencing troubles “grappling with the struggle of freeing a tethered heart and the process of learning your worth”, Maria Deirisarri’s “if the moon was a person” is an incredibly relatable breakup anthem. Having teamed up once again with producer Patrick Taylor, the two have created a complex sounding song that places emphasis on its minimalism, yet sensational production effects to give it depth. To no surprise, they’ve done it again and we can’t wait for everyone to click the play button.

Contrary to the past, there’s an immense number of instruments that made their own way into the background here. You’ll find glimmers of ukulele, acoustic guitar, kalimba, and synthesizers to round things out. With that being said though, Maria still steals the show with her soft spoken vocal delivery that keeps the listener hanging on every word. Break up anthems aren’t 100% original, but lyrically she’s provided something clever enough that still makes you hang on every line. Ultimately it’s a look into the past and trying to get rid of those rose-colored glasses that makes things feel a little bit better than they actually were.

As this is her second single released in 2022 thus far, we can confidently claim she’s gone for two for two. Our review of “The Same” was generally positive, but she’s gone above and beyond in crafting something that not only refines her sound but also gives her something to work off of in the near future. We’ve got a sneaking suspicion that this won’t be the last we hear from Maria this year, so definitely don’t miss out on what’s to come.
