Manuel Guzman shares dynamic & perplexing album, "Privat"
Being hailed as revolutionary in our eyes, Manuel Guzman’s latest record titled Privat is an absolute powerhouse and wall of sound that is begging to be turned up loud and listened to. Please read on for our complete analysis of the album, as well as a background on the artist himself.
Manuel Guzman has been consistently releasing records since the late 90’s, but on his latest Berlin-inspired rock record Privat, we think it may just be his best yet. Switching up his sound in the past from psychedelic, he’s metamorphosed his sound to include a little bit of everything, yet keeping the heavy overtones throughout the entirety of this listen.
So the story goes, Manuel Guzman had been living in Berlin for 2 years and spending his time playing a mix of electronic music and improv electric guitar. After capturing those life experiences, Privat was eventually born. What’s even more impressive is that each sound you hear on this record was self-recorded and produced by Manuel himself in his home studio. If you’re not in the music world, we just need to let you know how unbelievably difficult that feat is on its own.
At 8 total tracks, spanning just about 43 mesmerizing minutes, Manuel Guzman almost instantly proved to us there isn’t a single style or sub genre that he wouldn’t be able to pull off. Mixing up the likes of electronic, metal, and bits of post-rock, there’s truly a little bit of everything in Privat for a wide array of music consumers. Even though the album isn’t sung in English, it hardly even matters. Seriously, there’s so many other positive and thought provoking ideas being portrayed here that it’s hard to even remotely focus on lyricism when the instrumentation is just that dynamic.
One of the main things that we loved the most here was that from track to track, you were clearly able to tell one from another in terms of sound, atmosphere, and vibe. However, as different as each song sounded, the album was still cohesive as ever and flowed in a natural state. A single song is not what we’re recommending, rather a full album listen to really get in the world that Manuel Guzman has shaped here.
Overall, the hype is certainly real here and we suggest you find out for yourself. We’ve provided all the important links below in order to listen and follow along for everything Manuel Guzman. We sincerely hope you enjoy it!
