lostbody let loose a spacey new single, "Why'd You Have to Go and Leave?"

Continuing to revolutionize their already eclectic sound, lostbody have just shared their first single of the year titled “Why’d You Have to Go and Leave?”. Do yourselves a favor and check out our in-depth review of the track, as well as a refresher on the band.

It wasn’t too long that ago that we were reviewing lostbody’s second single, “Deep End”, so you can only imagine our pure elation when track number 3 headed our way. To no surprise in the slightest though, they’ve made a swift return on this song that both piques the listener’s interest in terms of catchy hooks, spacey production, and a deep dive into synth-fueled madness. Needless to say, we sincerely love it, and we know you will too.

For these three roommates (Nick, Kyle, and Jordy), they’re finally finding fulfillment in the music that they collectively love and make. Spending time in other bands most likely helped them come to that realization, but we’re thrilled to know that there’s no boundaries in this new adventure, and every song has been more significant than the last. Speaking directly on “Why’d You Have to Go and Leave?”, this sub-3 minute track so elegantly mixes up the styles of pure pop, a little punk, and glimmers of psychedelic rock all in one cohesive listen. The way that they’ve composed it feels like it was intended for the masses, but it has the ideal amount of originality to stand on its own as something that doesn’t fall in line with the rest of the genre.

We touched upon the amount of demos they’ve got sitting around in our last review, but it’s nice to see they’re hitting the studio to get the best ones recorded. With the help of Carter Hardin (Chapel) and Baylee Waller (All the Rest) on the production end, the team they’ve assembled is clearly top notch and the final products fully stand on their own. Together, they’ve created this ultra polished listen that’s just begging to be listened to on a nice pair of headphones or sound system. To miss out on the subtle effects in the background would be an absolute shame to the mixing and mastering.
