Who knew that two unlikely combinations consisting of Taylor Swift and reggaeton could work so well? We’re loving everything about this Lonelez remix of Taylor’s “Willow”, so please read on for our thoughts on the track, as well as a background on the artist below.

Born and raised in the Dominican Republic, Lonelez is a music producer, recording artist, photographer, and graphic designer who’s consistently testing the depths of his own creativity. Released in 2020, but still just as incredible today, this artist decided to take two polar opposite sounds and mash them up for something seriously extraordinary. Spliced in with features from Ozuna and Wisin, this reggaeton remix of Taylor Swift’s “Willow” has been at the top of our mind since it got sent over. We urge you to explore your own curiosity and give this one a spin.

Already reaching over a million plays on YouTube, we’re not surprised in the slightest that the world has accepted this remix with open arms. Since the initial release of Taylor Swifit’s Evermore record, particularly “Willow” has been one of our favorite songs that she’s put out. However, what is propelling Lonelez to the top is his ability to match the beat, mood, style, and beyond by adding his own production twists into the mix. We’ll say it 1000 times because it never stops being true, but when you think of T-Swift, you don’t think of classic reggaeton. With that being said though, he’s completely transformed this folk pop track and given it much more depth and complexity than we could have ever imagined.

Considering it’s now the highest searched song on Shazam in all of Mexico, Chile, and Ecuador, it’s safe to say he’s done something right. What makes this really great overall is that it isn’t just a basic beat over the song, rather the additional verses from Ozuna and Wisin really make this a whole different beast. Sure, you’ve got the standout Taylor portions, but at some points it becomes its own things entirely as he’s included his essence as a producer. Better yet, he’s got plenty of more remixes in a similar vein on his YouTube channel that we cannot wait to go and explore.
