Lenox Hills captivate on new eccentric EP, "Golden Town"
Leading up to the big day with a slew of upbeat and catchy singles, Lenox Hills’ latest EP Golden Town has arrived. We are loving it! Read on for a closer look at the record, in addition to a background on the band.
Currently based out of Tennessee, Lenox Hills are a four piece made up of Luke (vocals, guitar) and Packy Mullin (guitar), along with Kyle Swenson (drums) and Kameron Dunn (bass). Founded in 2016 and churning out outstanding Indie Rock tunes since then, they’ve been on the journey of mastering their craft since then. Golden Town appears to be the next evolution in their sound, and after listening multiple times prior to its release, we’re fully on board with it from start to finish.
With music videos still on the way for “Misnomer” and “I Feel It Coming On”, we’re sincerely looking forward to the rest of this EP rollout. Of course the main priority is going to be listening, but don’t miss out on the visual aspect once it arrives. Speaking on the music though, Golden Town comes in at 5 total tracks spanning right around 20 minutes and it managed to instantly pique our interest within the first 30 seconds. Honestly, there’s so much happening sonically and originally that it dares to break the mold of what “standard” alternative rock has become. The singles are what we were familiar with, but the remaining tracks might have been our favorites as a whole.
As the vocals hit memorable highs, the guitars feeling like they had a mind of their own, yet the production being consistent throughout, there aren’t any legitimate cons to point out here. While yes, it’s certainly a rock record, they weren’t afraid to veer away and include some of that Tennessee touch, too. It’s not quite country, but at least on the instrumentation side, there’s moments that allude to their home base and it shows! Without a doubt, and not to spoil too much else, we highly recommend everyone click the play button whenever you happen to come across this review.
