Left Of The Slash experiment on slow burning single, "Between The Lines"

After putting on a beyond memorable show at The Viper Room last week, Left Of The Slash are keeping their momentum rolling with a true to form single titled “Between The Lines”. Read on for our full analysis of the track, as well as a refresher on the band.

Just as anticipated as everything else Left Of The Slash has put out thus far, they continue to shape shift and experiment with sound. Their latest “Between The Lines” is no different, however they’ve actually gone with a slightly more downtempo song that puts the focus more on the lyricism which is always appreciated. Needless to say though, it fits in smoothly into their growing discography and is 100% worth your time and listen.

Engineered by Wyn Davis (Sublime, Guns N' Roses) and Steve Ornest (Foreigner, Van Morrison), you can so clearly hear the differences in the outcome of the song compared to everything else the band has made thus far. Honestly, compared to nearly every other song we’ve reviewed from the band, this is one that stands out the most due to it being the most sonically different. It has evoked even more emotion not only from Stephen Reid Nemeroff’s vocal display, but the screaming guitar solo featured in the middle is what really set the song over and added a dose of drama to the mix.

On the background of the track, Stephen highlights, “’Between The Lines’ has ominous undertones and gets the point across to dig deeper to not accept reality at face value. In other words, there is more than meets the eye and that we need to remember to look at things through a different lens sometimes. I think the title itself says it all.”

To no surprise at all, month after month Left Of The Slash continue to evolve and thoughtfully put together some of our favorite rock and roll of the past 5 years. Truly, every release virtually guarantees us that we’ll be guessing what’s coming next, and in this case, we could’ve never guessed the direction but are so thrilled they reeled it in just a tad. You’d be doing yourselves a serious disservice if you didn’t hit the play button on “Between The Lines” immediately. Once you fall in love, make sure to check out the rest of their music to directly compare the changes. Enjoy!
