Lawd P delivers on expertly executed EP, "Room Essentials"

Following up his 2020 EP Paradigm Shift that we quickly fell in love with, Lawd P has made his long awaited return with a complete stunner, Room Essentials. In typical fashion though, he’s put together something with a highly specific vibe that’s almost a complete 180 from the last record. Expanding his horizons and trying something new, we’ve got nothing but positive things to say. We highly recommend you give it a listen as soon as you can.
For those potentially out of the loop on Lawd P, he’s a Brooklyn-based Hip Hop artist that is single handedly changing the space of which we think music should sound like. Seriously, on Room Essentials the artist has upped his production to epic proportions and doubled down on imagery-filled lyricism that lights up the room. Written during the pandemic, Room Essentials goes through the complex topic of speaking on his intimate relationships with women and understanding what love and commitment really means.
At 6 songs in length, Lawd P’s track run doesn’t feature a single miss. Instead of needlessly filling a record with unwanted filler, he’s presented his best and most unique takes on topics that are always appreciated from a different point of view. Infusing and injecting a sort of laid back vibe from start to finish in the mix, Room Essentials is the type of EP that could be played in any setting or mood you may be feeling. We instantly imagined ourselves vibing during a car ride or popping it on in the late night hours and listening to a great storyteller.
One thing that we definitely need to point out is the cohesiveness of it all. With so many artists focusing on that one big hit, we loved the feeling of how it all just flowed so effortlessly. Instead of listening out of order one by one, you get the full album experience by listening to it in full. Lawd P sucks you into his desirable world and doesn’t let you go until the final beautiful moments.
Without giving too much else away, we’ve got to once again just let you know that you need to give it a shot. Our real recommendation here would be to start with a listen to Paradigm Shift and let it flow into Room Essentials to see the juxtaposition in sound. You’re going to love it!
