Released in 2020, but still just as fantastic today, we got the opportunity to sit down and speak with Kester Chalkley about his newest record, An Evening With Kester. Check out our full interview below.
Inspired by his parent’s music taste and time as performers back in London in the 60’s, Kester Chalkley cleared learned a thing or two and translated it directly to originals of his own. On his record An Evening With Kester, this Australian-based artist has managed to infuse a slew of musical genres to create one cohesive and ultimately fresh sounding album. We’ve loved our multiple listens of it and getting to speak with the artist was the cherry on top.
For Kester though, he’s no stranger to music in his own right. Having been writing since the age of 14 and being involved in different projects most of his life, we’re thrilled he’s kept it up and got more of his artistic ability to display. Coming in at 16 songs, spanning a little over an hour, Kester explores so many of his personal life experiences through song. Covering topics like motorbike accidents, vulnerability, and much more, there isn’t a single solitary second that feels like it lulls or strays away.
As much as we want you to check out the album in full, we also want to point you in the direction of our fantastic conversation. It’s always such a joy to get to speak with musicians who have racked up all this life experience, and this was no different.
