Katie Wright gets personal on electropop EP, "kt"
As each single was released, it only got us more and more hyped for the eventual release of Katie Wright’s debut EP, kt. Finally, that day has come and we can’t wait to tell how much we’re loving this new record. Read our full review of it below.
On Katie Wright’s debut EP kt, this independent pop singer and songwriter has explored the “inherent uncertainty that comes with entering a relationship”. Rich in its lyricism and storytelling, but equally as impressive from a production standpoint, Katie has gone above and beyond with this record now that the final product is out. We sincerely suggest you all take a listen as soon as you can.
Making things even more interesting on this four track EP, Katie has expertly lined things up to deliver a story arc. Over the course of the almost 15 minute record, the artist is highlighting different stages of love and heartache, wrapping it all up with her wide range of emotion on display for all. If you’ve been in this situation, it’s an incredibly relatable point of view to hear, but the electropop raging through the album makes for something that we know we’ll be coming back to for years to come.
Seeing as though Katie Wright was thoughtful in the sense of track listing, we’re going to recommend you start from the beginning on “Should I Wake You” and let it run fully through to “Nobody Else”. It’s a fantastic four track run that definitely deserves a focused listen, however these tracks could almost definitely be pulled separately and put on playlists too. For the first listen, we’ll definitely point you in the direction of a full listen to achieve the best effect.
Considering this is her first full record, we honestly hope it’s not too long until the next one is on its way. Not to rush the artist, because we know how long these things take, but this was just such an impressive listen in so many different areas that it’s got us pleading for more. It’s difficult to nail down what was our favorite part, her vocals, the production, or the all encompassing story. We suppose you can be the true judge here!
With that being said, do yourselves a big favor and dive into this record head first by clicking on the important links below. Enjoy!
