JULIENT mixes emotion & vibrance on upbeat single, "Was It Obvious?"

Mesmerizing in his way of blending together multiple styles, genres, and beyond, JULIENT’s newest single is called “Was It Obvious?” and is completely vulnerable in its lyricism. On his first track of 2023, this emerging artist is setting the tone for hopefully what’s to come in the next 12 months, and by the sound of this, we’re already craving more. On the background of it all, JULIENT has said it’s “based on an intimate relationship of mine. A person I love changed into the negative over the years and it took me a long time to realize it”. Ultimately this song takes the listener on a vivid and imagery-filled lyrical journey towards looking back on the past, and just like the title states, hoping that it wasn’t too obvious. In our opinion though, we don’t think he should harp too hard on himself as so many get sucked into specific situations. However, we’re beyond thrilled that he appears to be past it and can create a moving song like this that can also serve as a cautionary tale to so many out there experiencing the same.
Putting the message aside though, we really did enjoy the infusions of so many sounds as mentioned. What he’s done is taken a fairly straightforward pop track, but added majorly fun elements like reggaeton beats, glimmers of electronic production, and kept his vocals high in the mix to accurately convey that emotion and drama. For us, we confidently feel that this song is so well rounded in all that it portrays. Not only does it feature extreme vibrance, but you also get that depth and complexity knowing that this comes from the heart. It being danceable is an added plus, which really has just made us fall more in love with the music of JULIENT.
