Josh Caballes gets reflective on R&B-inspired single, "SEARCHLIGHT (In Too Deep)"

Lyrically expressive and rich in its production, Josh Caballes has tastefully put together another instant classic, “SEARCHLIGHT” (In Too Deep)”. Read on for a closer look into the track, as well as a full breakdown on this talented artist.

Currently representing the music scene in Phoenix, Arizona, Josh Caballes has fully hit his stride in his music creation and has delivered another memorable single titled “SEARCHLIGHT” (In Too Deep)”. Although the song is certainly rooted in the best parts of R&B, he’s taken a futuristic approach in the song’s effects to not only update it, but set a promising base for where he thinks the genre is headed. Without a doubt though, the song is outstanding, and we’re urging everyone out there to give it a spin.

Inspired directly by the “roller coaster of his life”, ultimately “SEARCHLIGHT” (In Too Deep)” is an open book to his feelings surrounding sex, love, and even spiritiuality. Lyrically speaking, he’s quite vulnerable here as the song tells a story of “his unquenched desire for a particular woman from his past life”. If you’ve ever been in love and felt like that person was the one that got away, well, there’s legitimately no more relatable song that we’ve heard than this. It’s an all too common situation that you either don’t realize until it’s too late or it happens without a moment’s notice. In Josh’s case, he’s pondering the experience and we can only imagine how cathartic it must have felt to actually get these words down on a page.

Putting the message aside though, every facet of this track feels like his vision is coming true by the sincerity in his vocal delivery and just how jam-packed everything in the mix is. Of course we mentioned this definitely mirrors our favorite bits of 90’s-esque R&B, but what Josh does best is not just recreating that sound, but blending together and infusing a handful of other styles to create something unbelievably unique. His voice hits those euphoric highs and moments in the process, the song doesn’t beat around the bush in its messaging, and you’re fully on the edge of your seat to see how it all ends up through the three minute runtime. If for some reason this happens to be your introduction to his music, we can think of no better place to start than here.
