JMSEY goes all out on punk-driven single & video for "Lil While"
Putting his various projects aside and prospering in his own solo career, JMSEY has blown us away with his latest release, “Lil While”. Please read on for our in-depth review of the track, in addition to a background on this very busy artist.
As the keytarist for Hobo Johnson and the Lovemakers, as well as being Oliver Tree’s tour technician, JMSEY has his hands in many baskets. While he’s built up quite the following thus far, we’re quite confident that his newest single and music video (linked below) for “Lil While” are going to propel him to a new level. The song is divine and insanely catchy, so of course we’ve got to give this recommendation to check it out as soon as you can.
Based around “society confronting an intense wave of post-pandemic reevaluation”, “Lil While” feels like a carefree yet introspective look at an ideal world after the madness. Comparatively to the rest of JMSEY’s existing discography, it’s certainly a bit more laidback, but the highs in his vocals are just as present. You’ll experience noodling guitar riffs taking control in the background with just a touch of punk to really bring a much needed edge into the mix. With so much influence coming from who he’s involved with, we’re not surprised the eclectic nature of this song shows itself so clearly.
After being signed to Sequel Music Group so recently, we’ve got the feeling that this isn’t going to be his last release of the year, rather an introduction to the next wave of tunes. Like any good artist, you’ve got to be looking towards the future and keeping on that wave of artistry and forward thinking. From what we’ve heard so far, the base has been set, and the sky is truly the limit for what we’ll expect to hear soon. The energy that’s been brought to “Lil While” is immense, so we’ll surely be looking forward to the follow up as soon as it drops.
