JB Elwood excels on a bright debut single, "Say Oh"
Expertly blending genres on his debut single “Say Oh”, JB Elwood is consciously making music for the masses to enjoy. We are loving this one! Read on for our full review of the track, as well as a background on this emerging artist.
Somewhere between a unique take on modern pop along with plenty of minor country elements, JB Elwood’s debut single “Say Oh” is a blast of joy through music. Influenced by his family and past experiences, he’s finally graduated from classic covers into original works. Let us potentially be one of the first to say that we’re thrilled he’s made the leap and his first offering to the world is nothing but fantastic. If you haven’t already done so, we highly recommend everyone out there give this a listen.
Led by a bright acoustic guitar and JB’s upbeat vocals right at the helm, he’s taking that John Mayer and Harry Styles formula, yet adding his own signature style into it all. The song hits in a few different ways, mainly because it’s lyric driven and covers contextual themes such as the exploration of relationships and finding connections at an older age. It’s an all too common issue these days, but JB has so delicately structured his song to focus on an optimistic look. Instrumentally speaking, on the surface it feels like a happy song paired with vibrant overtones, but you must take a look at the story underneath the beauty of it all.
Typically on a debut single, we find that an artist could be floundering to find that niche or sound to go forward with in terms of a follow up. With that being said though, the blend of genres presented here has given JB a really nice base to work off for years to come. We sincerely hope that there’s more singles up his sleeve sooner rather than later, because tracks like this deserve to be followed up as soon as possible. In the meantime, we know we’ll be coming back to “Say Oh” for bursts of energy and implore the reader to hop into it as well.
