“Don’t Ya” is a love letter to soulful pop music, offering a lush soundscape of shimmering style, smooth beats, and velvety vocals. From the very first note, the track pulls listeners into a warm, ethereal atmosphere that feels almost cinematic. Jordan Anthony and Mackenzie Sol’s voices intertwine beautifully, creating harmonies that are as delicate as they are powerful. It’s a song that feels both intimate and expansive, inviting listeners to lose themselves in its groove.
In our interview, J+M spoke with usabout the inspiration behind “Don’t Ya” and their journey to bringing this project to life. This passion shines through in the production, which is meticulously layered yet effortlessly smooth, allowing each vocal to shine while still building a full, immersive sound.
Mackenzie Sol, with his roots in Northern England, has been a performer practically his entire life. From appearing on X-Factor UK at just four years old to amassing millions of followers on social media, he’s always had a flair for capturing attention. As a singer-songwriter and actor based in the U.S., Mackenzie’s soulful voice has become a trademark, and “Don’t Ya” is the perfect showcase for his ability to convey emotion through music.
Jordan Anthony, who hails from Perth, Australia, has also had a remarkable journey. At just 14, he became the youngest finalist in the history of The Voice Australia, and later represented his country at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest with his original song “We Will Rise.” With a deep understanding of music and a passion for songwriting, Jordan’s voice and style have evolved into something uniquely his own, and “Don’t Ya” provides a platform for him to bring that soulful, heartfelt energy to a global audience.
When asked about the making of “Don’t Ya,” the duo shared how the collaboration felt natural from the start. This synergy is evident in the track, where every element, from the subtle drum grooves to the shimmering synths, feels perfectly balanced. The production is crisp and polished, yet still manages to retain a sense of warmth and intimacy, which is no small feat.
But “Don’t Ya” is just the beginning for J+M. The duo hinted at more music on the horizon, teasing new collaborations and projects that will continue to blend their distinct styles. With a debut this strong, we are sincerely craving more! In the meantime though, we urge everyone out there enjoy our interview, but also to listen and follow along for much more.
