Hatim shares his personal experiences on EP, "Summer Fling"
Expertly blending a wide variety of desirable sounding genres, Hatim’s Summer Fling EP has delivered in the best way possible. Please read on for our full review of the record, in addition to a background on this quickly emerging artist.
Currently based out of Vancouver, Hatim is a Sudanese/Canadian R&B artist who’s infusing an eclectic mix of soul and passion into his truly unique sound. Encapsulating his message within Summer Fling, he’s detailed the all-too-common event of the same name in which so many of us experience throughout our lives. The beauty he’s brought to this music is unprecedented and we sincerely can’t wait for all to give it a spin.
At just 5 total tracks, spanning just around 13 minutes in length, this was the perfect bite size introduction to a world and atmosphere that this talented artist has created. Every moment on Summer Fling was all sorts of melodic and showed off the true artistry that this multi-talented musician has to offer. We would consider this record a cohesive listen, mainly in the sense that it flows effortlessly from start to finish with a conveying message coming across in full. In short, this is an EP that shouldn’t be skipped around at all.
While there were seemingly infinite standouts and highlights, we felt the immense need to shine the spotlight on Hatim’s vocals. They’ve single handedly carried the EP, even though from a production standpoint he’s gone above and beyond. Top to bottom, Summer Fling features grooveable, relatable, and ultimately clean vibrant sounds that are setting the stage for big things to come in the future. The opener “Got Away” for example provides the ideal atmosphere and vibe; it really lets the listener know and experience exactly what they’re going to get themselves into.
With all that being said though, there honestly isn’t a single negative we could point out here. For the absolute fact, we know we’ll be going through the rest of Hatim’s discography based on the truth that he’s floored us with this output.
