Haley Fishberger marks her return with genre-bending single, "Sweetheart"
Gracing us with her first single release since 2020, Haley Fishberger hasn’t skipped a beat on her newest musical endeavor, “Sweetheart”. Please keep reading for a closer look into the song, as well as a background on this talented artist.
Rooted in the pop genre but incorporating so many different sounds and styles in the process, Haley Fishberger has gone above and beyond in crafting her latest, “Sweetheart”. For this Los Angeles singer, songwriter, and producer, she’s still managed to incorporate that signature essence featured on past tracks and parlayed them to potentially the sound of her future. Focusing intently on groovy rhythms, a diverse instrumentation, and of course her heavenly vocals, it’s hard not to overwhelmingly recommend this to everyone.
Immediately as “Sweetheart” produces its opening notes, you’re intoxicated with this sweet and sultry almost atmospheric soundscape. Not long passes until a massive bass line appears infusing those aforementioned grooves into the mix, meanwhile you’re already in a trance hanging on Haley’s every word. This song definitely borders on more pop and rock elements, but honestly feels like it has glimmers of cabaret as well due to the way that she delivers her lines. It’s fully unexpected on the initial listen, but now having enjoyed this multiple times, it brought such a nice complexity and really does a fantastic job of sticking out from similar sounding songs.
She describes herself as “persona pop”, essentially pop music with a “cinematic spice and a lot of character”, which ultimately “Sweetheart” is filled with. That cinematic flair also brings a bit of suspense and drama, chalking it up to a fully formed and well rounded single overall. Considering this was the first major release since 2020’s “Un Known”, here’s to hoping that more music heads our way sometime in 2023, because at this point we need it. Additionally, there’s an underlying feeling of confidence that flows throughout this. We can only begin to imagine how Haley could command a room of concert goers as this song played out.
