Haiku Hands' "Eat This Bass" gets the remix treatment from IPON
As if the original weren’t amazing enough, Haiku Hands have just shared an updated and remixed version of their single “Eat This Bass” by IPON. We are loving it! Please read along for our full review of the track, as well as a background on these emerging artist.
For those out of the loop, Haiku Hands are an Australian dance-pop collective made up of Beatrice Lewis, Claire Nakazawa and Mie Nakazawa. After dropping their 2020 self-titled album, they’ve just followed it up with a killer remix of their track “Eat This Bass”. As mentioned, the original was incredible, but this remix by IPON has shapeshifted this track into something extra special, we highly recommend it!
Says IPON on creation of the song, “The first time I heard the song ‘Eat This Bass,’ I immediately felt the "punk" potential of the song”. He’s nothing but correct considering the original is about as punk as you can get in terms of aggressiveness, allure, and the unapologetic emotions it gives off midway through listening. The collaboration between Mad Decent Records and Spinning Top Records isn’t something we knew possible, but are thanking our lucky stars that it happened.
As for Haiku Hands as a whole, this has been one of our favorite trios for a while now, especially after the release of their debut album. We had the opportunity to witness them open for Tame Impala at the Fox Theatre in Pomona ahead of Tame’s 2019 Coachella set and they completely blew us away. At the time they were a relatively unknown group to us, however they instilled so much memorable music into our hearts, it’s been quite the positive ride seeing them continue to release energetic and empowering music.
“Eat This Bass” was a wild ride as a whole and getting it cranked to 11 by IPON was nothing short of a beautiful surprise. With that being said though, we can’t help but overwhelmingly recommend you dive into not only this track, but each artist’s respective discographies to really get a hold on what you may be missing. We’ve done the easy part and included everything important below in order to listen and follow along for more. We sincerely hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
