Graham and the Band Upstairs return to talk latest single, "Standstill Blues" - Interview

Making his return for another fantastic conversation, we got another opportunity to speak with Graham Waldrop of Graham and the Band Upstairs about their newest single, “Standstill Blues”. Please enjoy our full conversation with the artist below.

Graham and The Band Upstairs have emerged on the Americana music scene with their second single, "Standstill Blues." This Atlanta-based band, led by Graham Waldrop, brings together a diverse range of influences to create a sound that is both unique and reminiscent of classic artists like Bob Dylan and Neil Young. We spoke with Graham not too long ago about the band’s debut “Home To You”, so you can only imagine our sincere delight to speak again about their newest endeavor.

With Waldrop's introspective lyrics and the band's blend of folk, blues, and rock, "Standstill Blues" is a fully realized sonic experience that captures the essence of the Americana genre. Waldrop's vocals are raw and emotional, supported by the skilled instrumentation of Jeff Dei Dolori on guitar, Josef Bell on bass, Zach Strum on drums, and Veronica Roman on vocals. Even better, we got a background on what exactly inspired this song, and it’s easily one of the most relatable experiences if you’re a commuter in the world. Graham summed it up nicely in his explanation, another reason to check out the conversation in full.

As the second single from their upcoming debut album, Turning Magic On Its Heels, "Standstill Blues" continues to serve as a powerful introduction to Graham and The Band Upstairs' sound. The song's lyrics touch on themes of personal growth and finding a way to move forward in the face of stagnation, making it a relatable and timely track for audiences in today's world. Overall, Graham and The Band Upstairs have crafted a truly impressive single with "Standstill Blues," demonstrating their skill as musicians and storytellers. Fans of Americana, folk, and rock music will find much to appreciate in this talented band's sound, and we eagerly anticipate the release of their debut album in 2023.
