Ginger May explore a new sound on stellar single, "Me And You"

Pivoting their sound and over delivering with something truly special, we’re loving this new release titled “Me And You” from Ginger May! Please do yourselves a favor and read our full review, in addition to a background on the emerging band.

Currently representing the music scene in Tokyo, Japan, Ginger May are a rock band that are actively doing things different in a genre that desperately needs it. They’ve taken a sort of “dark and layered sound” from the past and are infusing it with something new for the future. Their latest is called “Me And You” and it’s filled to the brim with endless grooves, rhythms, and an inventive instrumentation. Without a doubt, we’re sincerely recommending everyone click the play button on this as soon as possible.

Officially released on July 3rd, 2022, Ginger May are seriously proving their consistency over the past few years. With a record and an EP under their belt, there’s clearly no shortage of creative output, but we’re loving the blending of styles and genre on “Me And You”. It’s obviously based and rooted in rock, however the addition of a slightly electronic production and even Hip Hop-based drums show a nice outlook for the future. We’d still consider them to be early on in their hopefully long-term career, but showing their capabilities gives them the option to further switch it up in the future. Wherever they go or experiment with, we can definitely get on board, we’re here for the long haul.

Now at just a little over three minutes in runtime, Ginger May has certainly crafted this song to keep the listener wanting more as the final notes hit. It doesn’t overstay its welcome, has more than enough interesting instrumental passages to keep your interest piqued, but ultimately has those replayable moments to come back for further listens. Personally we’ve given it a ton of spins at this point and have discovered so much more deep in the mix. Ginger May has given us another outstanding piece, so don’t waste time not listening to this song.
