Gabrielle Ornate achieves new heights on outstanding song, "Phantasm"
Sliding in right at the end of the year with another masterful hit, Gabrielle Ornate has stuck the landing on an outstanding single, “Phantasm”. Read on as we share our thoughts on the track, in addition to an update on the talented artist.
Leaning more into that heavy rock sound that we’ve loved so much in the past, Gabrielle Ornate continues to shine as bright as ever on her newest song, “Phantasm”. According to her, it’s “alt-pop siren meets riff-laden rock", which after listening, has quickly become a fact in our eyes and ears. This time around though, we feel as though she’s infused a touch of suspense and drama into the instrumental, keeping listeners on the edge of their seat and engaged as to what hooks might arise next. Obviously, we’re urging everyone to click the play button and celebrate release day.
We’ve said it before and we’ll continue to say it again as long as Gabrielle keeps sharing music, but she’s somehow managed to keep reinventing her sound in a forward motion, pushing her to even greater heights. “Phantasm” was instantly immersive with its ominous and slightly eerie undertones in the production, but the moment her vocals enter the mix, that pure anxiety washes right away. Using her “ethereal poetry” to paint a vivid picture in your mind with always well thought out lyricism, for us the whole song felt like one complete listen that had infinite highlights to offer. Consistently her sound has always had this blending of a ton of subgenres, keeping us guessing which direction she might take things. In this scenario though, that heaviness in the guitars and empowerment in her voice are the absolute perfect combination to keep you grooving the whole way through.
Days go by after our initial listen and undoubtedly we continue to find ourselves humming the riffs, subconsciously strumming our air guitars, and faintly attempting to hit the vocal highs Gabrielle effortlessly achieves. The catchiness in her music isn’t a maybe, but at this point a virtual guarantee in everything she’s shared. Considering this is her fourth single release of the year, of which we’ve reviewed all of them, it’s nearly impossible to pick a favorite, but can also be said “Phantasm” is an ideal jumping off point to explore the rest. It holds all of her best capabilities as a multi-talented musician and we’re thrilled to share it with the world!
