Frank Jung craft an exceptional & long-awaited EP, "Brighter Days"
Over two and a half years since our review of Frank Jung’s single “Show Me” and the band has grown exponentially since. Right ahead of summer, the band has just shared a stellar new EP titled Brighter Days and we’re quite excited to share our complete thoughts on it.
Frank Jung, the Los Angeles-based indie rock band formed by brothers Hector and Alex Bermudez, has crafted a truly heartfelt and emotionally charged EP with their latest release, "Brighter Days." Drawing from their own personal experiences, the band delivers a collection of songs that beautifully encapsulate the joys, struggles, and resilience of life and love. It’s got that brightness about it that’s guaranteed to put a smile on your face, and with that, we’re thrilled for everyone to be able to click the play button.
Comprising the talents of Hector (Lead Vocals/Guitar), Alex (Bass), Luis Rodriguez (Drums), and Ernesto Franco (Lead Guitar), Frank Jung is a musical project that resonates with a deep sense of authenticity. Their music is not just a creative outlet but a means to navigate the complexities of their own lives, including the tragic loss of their father during their formative years.
The EP opens with the eponymous track, "Brighter Days," a song that serves as the shining centerpiece of the release. Written during a challenging time when their mother was diagnosed with cancer, the track exudes an unwavering sense of hope and resilience. It's a musical embrace, a source of inspiration for those facing their own battles, reminding listeners that even in the darkest of moments, brighter days are possible. The song's upbeat melodies, uplifting lyrics, and spirited instrumentation create an atmosphere of motivation and encouragement.
The EP seamlessly transitions into the remaining tracks, each offering a unique perspective and showcasing the band's versatility. “Show Me” follows up the lead single perfectly, continuing to please our ears with emphatic drums, meaningful lyrics, and beyond. "Memories" serves as what we think might be the most satisfying piece of songwriting on the EP. It really does perfectly paint a picture of the past, all the while living in a world that looks forward with optimism.
Wrapping it up with “From Now On”, the band take a slight step back in the bright indie rock that they’ve created and show a softer side. It’s a wonderful juxtaposition comparatively, yet they still end on a bang in those final instrumental notes.
The seamless integration of guitar-driven melodies, dynamic rhythms, and emotive vocals creates a sonic landscape that is both captivating and engaging. The boys really have outdone themselves here, and once again, we’re excited for you to listen.
