Flynn Tanner effortlessly impresses on sonic single, "Discovering You"
Centering another song around his silky smooth vocals, Flynn Tanner has downright impressed us with his newest musical offering, “Discovering You”. We are loving it! Read on for our full analysis of the track, as well as a refresher on this emerging artist.
Representing the Toronto music scene, Flynn Tanner is mixing the vintage with the modern on his highly stylistic take on indie pop. With his newest single “Discovering You” just released, he’s proved once again that he’s up to the task to keep pumping out memorable hits primed for the masses. We sincerely enjoyed every single second of his newest work and truly think all the readers out there will too.
While of course his music lays comfortably surrounded by his vocals, Flynn’s mastery of the guitar might just evoke even more emotion out of us than anything else. Specifically on “Discovering You”, what he’s done here is expertly build up the sound and scope of the song until a fiery riff comes in and closes everything out on the perfect high note. As a current student at Berklee College of Music majoring in Professional Music, we’re not overly surprised the structure of his songs are as inventive as they continue to be.
It actually wasn’t too long ago that we covered his most recent track, “Make You Mine”, which was our introduction to his music. Since then, we’ve been anxiously waiting for the follow up and oh boy, did it deliver in a huge way. The song is overtly unique to anything we’ve heard, however it’s almost as if he’s channeled John Mayer a bit in the cadence of his flawless yet soulful guitar playing. Sure, the lyrics are quite powerful as well and we wouldn’t want to discount them, but the pairing of his vocals and instrumentation piqued our interest the most from the get go.
With an EP on the way (yes!) and two more songs still to come, you could reasonably say our hype levels are at an all time high. In the meantime we know we’ll continue to explore and examine his discography, but if you’re just being introduced to him right now, “Discovering You” is the ideal entry point to his music as a whole. Point blank, it’s lovely and will surely win you over to become a new fan. Enjoy!
