Fearn excels on latest collaboration single, "Lake Annecy"

Truly a complex and multidimensional single, Fearn has over delivered with his latest musical endeavor, “Lake Annecy”. Please read on for an in-depth review of the track, as well as a background on the artist.

Currently based out of Sussex, the project of Fearn is headed by producer and songwriter Will Taylor. With help on the brass arrangements from Dave Huntriss, strings from Harry Fausing-Smith and vocals from Lorphe (Iris Engelen), these four collaborators have created something absolutely outstanding on “Lake Annecy. With Bon Iver and Efterklang heading up his main influences, you can only imagine the future eclectic sounding releases this artist is going to compile.

So much of what we’ve enjoyed about not only this song, but his music in general, is the openness in his collaborations. Fearn is approaching music making in a collaboration sense and it’s only broadening his horizons. There’s a ton of artists out there who attempt to do it all themselves, but realistically the help from others can only boost you. Without the brass or strings on “Lake Annecy”, it’s hard to imagine the song would have reached the highs that it’s built up.

On the background of it all, the artist has stated that it “explores the feeling of getting caught in initial stages of loving someone and the way that feeling floods your whole chest and body in a warm and all-encompassing way”. It’s thankfully an entirely relatable situation to be in, but it never gets old listening to majestic songs like these and attempting to relive it all. Paired with the beauty that “Lake Annecy” holds from start to finish, Will has put together something both memorable and given us the everlasting feeling of needing more as soon as we can get it.

With more music on the way in terms of collaborations, we confidently feel that we’re only at the beginning of a very promising musical career. Additionally, live shows are in the works for this artist. We can’t possibly imagine seeing this in person and not falling in love, so here’s to hoping he makes his way to Southern California one of these days.
