At just a little under four minutes in length, what Ernest Hummingbird has accomplished on his debut single “Paint The Night” has us incredibly hopeful for his future as an artist. Cinematic, grand, and perfectly dramatic in all the right ways, he’s orchestrated something quite beautiful on the instrumentation and paired it nicely with his dynamic vocal range. Without a doubt, we’re urging everyone to click the play button.
On the background of the song, “Paint The Night” plans to “explore the effects of the tough choices people face, and how the act of making those decisions carries both consequences and exciting new prospects”. Right from the get go, Ernest lets the listener in on the themes that he’s covering, but with the way that he sings, it’s almost as if his voice is another instrument in a sea of many. Paired with so many orchestral notes and a non-traditional song structure, we’re thrilled to say that this really does break the mold of something mainstream. Attempting to put it into a genre would also be difficult as it basically stands on its own.
There’s moments of pure intensity and glimmers of reprieve, but from start to finish, you’re really getting a look at the inner workings of a true musician in his element. We can’t even begin to imagine how difficult this was to produce, let alone construct, but the end product speaks volumes to the quality and attention to detail. Most likely it’ll be difficult to follow this one up, but our real hope is that he’s got more on the way. An album of tracks like this would legendary, so here’s to hoping we see more in the coming months!
