Duga Radar expand their sound on synth-led single, "Feel Your Heartbeat"

Spanning decades in sound, style, and rhythms, Duga Radar have delivered another memorable track in 2022 with “Feel Your Heartbeat”. Please read on for an in-depth look at the single, in addition to a much needed background on the band.

Drenched with synthesizers, moody vocals, and infinite catchy moments, Ottawa’s own Duga Radar have completely nailed it with the fresh release of “Feel Your Heartbeat”. Self-described as a “Motown meets 70’s rock” type song, they’ve managed to pull influences from Wings, My Morning Jacket, and many more. Still though, they’ve infused their own personality and originality into the mix that makes it feel new and nostalgic all at the same time. Plain and simple though, we’re highly recommending everyone give it a play as soon as possible.

As a power duo made up of Chris Thibedeau (Vox, Guitar, Bass) and Brennan Pilkington (Vox, Drums), Duga Radar are undoubtedly expansive in their soundscapes and atmospheres. You’d immediately think this was a band of four or more given all the rich instrumentation that’s included, but Chris and Brennan have it locked down using their multi-instrumentalist capabilities. On “Feel Your Heartbeat”, they quickly immerse the listener in what feels like you’re floating in space as the swirling synthesizers pulsate through your headphones, but the inclusion of so many genres in just one song is what might be the most impressive. Incorporating glimmers of psychedelic rock, funk, synthwave, and more, they’ve handcrafted this gem for all those who are looking to expand their musical horizons.

Says Thibedeau on the background, “We made a decision to put a telephone vocal on top of the verses and then chose to hit the listener over the head with a Dr. Dre-style keyboard to tell them 'The Chorus is here!'". That’s honestly the perfect way to describe this track because it’s so jam-packed with inspiration from others. To be honest this was our introduction to Duga Radar, but it’s almost as if they looked their our personal playlists and tailored their original music to our preferences. We’ve got a feeling that this is just the start of our love affair to everything that they’ve made and are planning to release in the near future.

While we continue to explore their discography, go ahead and listen for yourselves, follow along, and stay tuned for much more on the way.
