Doctor Lincoln uplifts on optimistic new single, "Break the Ice"
Giving us his second single of the year titled “Break the Ice”, Doctor Lincoln is back and has crafted up something supremely euphoric in the process. Keep reading for a closer look at the track, as well as a background on the artist.
As a former Cardiac surgeon who was diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome in 2018, life changed quickly as he uprooted his life to focus full time on music production. In fact, Doctor Lincoln was quite prominent in India’s underground music scene with a band called Once Chosen, but he’s now taken the path of a solo career. In our opinion, we feel that it’s allowed him to take over creative control, and the way that “Break the Ice” turned out makes it all seem worth it. Without a doubt, we’re urging everyone out there to give this one a spin.
Through four and a half minutes of runtime, Doctor Lincoln has certifiably impressed us with not only his vocals that are at the forefront of the song, but the relaxed vibe he’s exuded on “Break the Ice”. The song features a relatively upbeat and vibrant instrumentation, definitely along the lines of what we would consider indie rock and pop, but it’s got that breezy summery feeling right behind it as well. Particularly what we enjoyed the most about it is that the actual lyrics of the song are optimistic and push the listener in the direction to literally “break the ice”. We take that message and relate it to themes surrounding getting out of your comfort zone, or at least that’s how we’ve interpreted the message.
Another major milestone is just how well mixed and produced this track really is. Doctor Lincoln’s vocals sit right at the front, but they’re not overbearing, however they command in a way that makes them feel both warm and inviting. To be honest, we need to do a deeper exploration into the rest of his growing discography, mainly based on the fact that this song put us in such a great headspace. We left feeling empowered and in a much better mood than when we started!
