Cxl Mxck crafts his own unique sound on alternative rock track, "Mushroom Treatment"

Recently released into the world on November 20th, 2020, Cxl Mxck has put forth his second single, “Mushroom Treatment”. We are absolutely loving it! Please read along with us for our detailed thoughts on the track, in addition to a background on the artist himself.
Hailing from Cheshire, England, Cxl Mxck is a 21 year old artist who is truly doing things different with the alternative rock scene. After featuring on BBC Introducing Merseyside with his debut single “I Can’t Breathe”, the artist got almost immediate success on the radio, which then caught the attention of the local newspaper The Northwich Guardian in late October 2020.
On the song itself, the artist let us know specifically, “Mushroom Treatment talks openly about loneliness and sadness during the pandemic of COVID-19 and opens up the conversation for depression.” You’ll hear it fairly clearly by listening, but his overall sound is Influenced by the likes of YUNGBLUD, Billie Eilish and Indie Rock as a genre.
Our immediate first impressions on “Mushroom Treatment” were incredibly positive. The immediate mood, vibe, and atmosphere that the artist was able to create within the first 30 seconds of playtime were truly paramount to us loving the song. Talking lyrically, Cxl Mxck makes things incredibly relatable to the listener, as so much of the world is dealing with similar themes that he breaks down.
As a genre, it falls in the alternative rock space, however the artist has put his own spin on things. It’s taking the best parts of alternative and that classic Brit Rock song, and combining them together to create something truly special. Additionally, the artist’s vocals are so incredibly smooth! You’re hanging on every last word being sung through your headphones.
While this is only the second single coming from the artist, there is so much potential here. We cannot stress that enough. After the success of the debut single, and now this one, let it be known that we will absolutely be following this career closely. It’s the type of music we love, so we’re really looking forward to what else can be brought to the table. No rush to the artist because we know these things take time, but we sincerely are looking forward to potentially an EP or album in the coming months.
