Another perfect piece of modern psychedelia from Coloured Clocks, one of our consistent favorites, the artist has returned for something exceptional with the fresh release of Rainbow Mountain. Read on as we break down our thoughts on the album and take a closer look into the artist.
Enter the kaleidoscopic world of Coloured Clocks' latest release, Rainbow Mountain. With its pulsating beats and mesmerizing melodies, this record takes listeners on a transcendent journey through the realms of psychedelic pop and beyond. Led by the visionary producer James Wallace, Coloured Clocks invites us to ascend to new heights on the multicolored mound of sound, immersing ourselves in the spirit and shapes that dwell within.
From the opening track, it becomes clear that Rainbow Mountain is no ordinary musical offering. The overall mood walks us through intricate sonic landscapes, guiding us on a hypnotic journey that begs us to hit repeat. The songs on this record possess a magnetic pull, drawing us deeper into their rich tapestry of sound with each passing moment. As recently as last September we reviewed the artist’s record Castle and have been patiently waiting since for his inevitable return!
Coloured Clocks' mastery lies in their ability to create an immersive experience that transports listeners to another dimension. As we traverse the ethereal soundscape, we are encouraged to move with the spirit and shapes that inhabit Rainbow Mountain. The music pulsates and swirls around us, creating an otherworldly atmosphere that captivates the senses and ignites the imagination.
Throughout the record, James Wallace's production skills shine brightly, demonstrating his prowess in crafting intricate layers of sound that interweave harmoniously. Each instrument and electronic element finds its place in the sonic palette, creating a cohesive and enchanting blend of textures. The result is a sonic journey that is as rich and diverse as the colors of the mountain itself. For us, it’s legitimately hard to pick a favorite, but certainly some of the standouts were “Flight Night”, “The Illusion”, and the 6 minute thrilled “Wonderful Life”.
The songs on Rainbow Mountain invite us to explore and embrace the unexpected. We find ourselves sitting on the bridge of exploration, riding a metaphorical giraffe as we navigate the twists and turns of the musical landscape. The record's ability to seamlessly blend influences from” Van Morrison to Nietzsche, Tame Impala to Toro y Moi, and Paul McCartney to John Lennon” is a testament to Coloured Clocks' versatility and vision.
The Australian-born and now Germany-based artist has once again demonstrated his ability to create music that leaves an indelible mark on listeners' hearts and minds. Following the success of his previous releases, Castle and The Floral Emblem, Wallace presents us with Rainbow Mountain, an invitation to embark on a musical odyssey unlike any other.
Continuing to push every single boundary in his way, James has achieved all new heights with a total beauty from start to finish. Obviously we love it and we know you will too, so please click those links below to listen, follow along, and of course to stay tuned for much more on the way.
